Amanda and I (Josh) have been serving at The Bridge since the
beginning; back when it was merely a vision. We were both in our senior year at
Wright State University serving on student leadership for Crosswalk (Ohio’s
BSU/BCM) when Chad shared the vision God had given him to plant a church at
Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. It wasn’t long after hearing about this
vision that I was not only excited but had a burning desire to be a part of
what God was going to be doing.
The Bridge is a church that was started in August of 2007 by a group of
20-something pastors with a vision of seeing God use college students to reach
college students, create disciples and be mobilized in taking the Gospel across
the campus of Miami University, Oxford, Ohio and the world. Five years later we
have seen that vision come to fruition in great ways, but there is so much
further left to go.
Over the last school year alone we have seen over 31 new commitments to
Christ. That is 31 new family members and 31 new citizens of the Kingdom and we
need you to help be part of keeping the Kingdom growth going here. As Southern
Baptists, support raising is not something we are super used to because we
support the Cooperative Program which supports our missionaries, but with the evolution
of NAMB strategies and many new initiatives, The Bridge is now being
categorized as a “mission.” Which means we are now in the same category as many
others who are asking family, friends, new acquaintances, churches, strangers,
and the like to consider being apart of Great Commission Giving in supporting
what God is doing here in Oxford directly.
My prayer is that you will not be completely turned off by the straight
forwardness of this letter, but you will see the honesty here and a desire for
nothing else than to see the Gospel spread and people enter into the Kingdom,
and to mobilize you to be part of that with us. No matter where you are
geographically you can be part of what God is doing here in the Southwest
corner of Ohio. Don’t worry, I am not
asking you to cash out your 401k or anything like that, I am just giving the
invitation for you to be part of the expansion of the Kingdom, in the way that
God is leading you, in whatever way that God is leading.
